BRINGING OVER 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE SEEKING JUSTICE TO THE BENCH
Bret Smith is a native Oklahoman, born in Kingfisher. His family moved to Muskogee in 1967- growing up his mother was an educator and his father worked for the telephone company. Twenty-seven years ago, Bret graduated from the University of Tulsa Law School – and has dedicated himself to representing folks in a variety of legal matters, including complex civil litigation and Federal trial work. For the past decade, Bret served as the Juvenile Judge for City of Muskogee. He is currently the Municipal Judge for the City of Muskogee and Judge for the Towns of Ft. Gibson and Okay.
Bret comes from a long line of military service with a family member from every generation serving the military dating back to the Revolutionary War- including his six years in Trp E 145th Calvary, Oklahoma National Guard. Five members of his family are nurses, including three who work at the VA Hospital in Muskogee. He is a Rotarian, a Mason and a Shriner. He is past president of Muskogee County Bar and a former Governor of the Board of the Oklahoma Bar Association. He is currently a trustee of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation, a 15 million dollar foundation that funds groups that provide legal services for the indigent. He is an active fundraiser for his church, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a rancher. Bret is, most importantly, a devoted father to Lizzie and Leah.
